Crystal Palace are reportedly interested in signing Chelsea midfielder Danny Drinkwater this summer.

It’s time for Chelsea to accept that Drinkwater was not a worthy addition and cash-in before his reputation is damaged beyond repair.

At the time of his arrival, we all knew that £35M wasn’t good business, but we weren’t prepared for just how ordinary he was going to be during his debut season as a Chelsea player.

He fell abysmally short of expectations and doesn’t deserve another shot at life at Chelsea. He’s not good enough, it’s as simple as that.

The Daily Mail claim that Crystal Palace could offer him an exit route this summer. That’d be good for him, that’s more like his level than Chelsea.

It’s unclear how much of the £35M we spent on him we’d be likely to recoup, but with the money that the lesser Premier League sides are throwing around this summer, a large chunk is entirely plausible.

Danny Drinkwater joined the club injured, and only played 12 games for Chelsea. It would be absolutely stupid to write him off so soon, especially considering how short we are on English qualified players we are. Bitter old Conte never gave him a chance. I hope Sarri will.
