Chelsea’s second summer signing imminent after €55M bid placed

Daniele Rugani to Chelsea is just a matter of time, according to reports in Italy.

Chelsea’s back-line is stacked full of familiar faces, but that’s not to say that we shouldn’t look to strengthen there this summer.

Gary Cahill is ageing, David Luiz spent a season out injured, while there’s question marks surrounding Kurt Zouma’s distribution from the back.

If Chelsea are in the market for a new centre-back, we ought to look no further than Rugani. He’s got high potential, is well-polished and is crying out for an opportunity.

Maurizio Sarri, who worked with Rugani at Empoli, appears desperate to arrange a summer reunion with the Italy international.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Chelsea have offered €55M in exchange for Rugani, a figure which is described as an ‘appropriate sum’.

The report claims that the deal is just a matter of time. That may well be the case, but the clock is ticking. It’d ease our anxiety if we got it done soon.
