Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele appears to be top of Chelsea’s list of potential replacements for N’Golo Kante this summer.
Best case scenario, Kante remains. We’re not under any illusions, though, we know how this club works. If an offer comes in matching the Frenchman’s valuation, and he has had his head turned by the interest of the pursuing party, Kante could genuinely leave Chelsea this summer.
Especially when, as Goal report, the highly-ambitious and mega-rich Paris Saint-Germain are chasing the 27-year-old. PSG are the biggest club in Kante’s home country. They could offer him the chance to play alongside the likes of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, on astronomical wages. Even the most loyal of players would surely find that hard to turn down.
Thankfully, Chelsea have already prepared a contingency plan in case of Kante’s departure. Goal claim that we will move to sign Lyon’s Tanguy Ndombele if push comes to shove. L’Equipe have claimed that the Ligue 1 outfit are hoping to receive €65M in exchange for Ndombele. Factoring the money we’d raise through the sale of Kante, that is affordable for us.
Still, we dearly hope that Kante remains.
