Chelsea’s lanky Belgian has just one-year remaining on his contract with the club. It’s nothing short of a disgrace that we’ve allowed ourselves to get into this situation.
Courtois is one of the best goalkeepers in the world, and we could see him walk out the Stamford Bridge exit door on a free transfer next summer.
Chelsea may be forced to cash-in this summer for whatever proposal we are provided with. If Diario Gol are to be believed, Real Madrid may be set to bail us out.
That is, in no small part, thanks to Sergio Ramos. The report claims that the Spaniard does not want Brazil number one Alisson at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Instead, Ramos has asked Perez to sign Courtois from Chelsea. A potential offer in the region of €50M is mentioned in the report.
Of course, ideally we’d like to keep hold of Courtois. If he continues to stall over an extension, though, we should take the cash and run.
