Roman Abramovich

The January transfer window is in full swing, and Chelsea are already making moves in the market.

England international midfielder Ross Barkley has arrived from Everton, but there are still holes that need plugging in Antonio Conte’s squad.

The Italian does not appear to fully trust Michy Batshuayi to lead his forward line, and Marcos Alonso could do with some genuine competition on the left-hand-side of the defence.

These are just two areas that the Premier League champions could look to build on this month – but who in particular should be be targeting? TalkChelsea have hand-picked three potential targets who would take the Blues to the next level.

4. Mauro Icardi

Though just 24-years-old, Mauro Icardi is already considered one of the best strikers in the world. The Argentine has found the back of the net 18 times in 20 Serie A appearances so far this term, bringing him on par with the world elite.

Alvaro Morata is great, but he’s still slightly rough around the edges. Icardi would provide genuine competition for the Spaniard, and Conte would have the option to play them upfront together.

He wouldn’t come cheap, but he’d be worth every penny…
