Chelsea are reportedly keen on signing Christian Pulisic, but will only move for him if Willian is sold.

You may well hold the opinion that the best way to rebuild following a fifth place finish is not to sell your reigning players’ player of the year.

However, by the end of 2018, Willian will be 30. The Brazilian relies heavily on his speed, which will only depreciate in the coming years.

If Chelsea are presented with a suitable offer, we shouldn’t hesitate cashing-in on Willian, especially when you consider who could come in as a replacement.

According to Standard Sport, Pulisic is one of the players being considered, but Chelsea will only launch a move to sign him if Willian departs this summer.

Willian is thought to be valued in the region of £70M for Chelsea, while Dortmund are hoping for £62M in exchange for Pulisic.

We’d be trading Willian for a player with a higher ceiling, who is a decade younger. That, to us, looks like good business.
