Chelsea are plotting a move for Napoli attacker Lorenzo Insigne, as the club prepares for the departure of Eden Hazard to Real Madrid, report The Sun.
According to The Sun, the Premier League champions are braced for a huge bid from Los Blancos for Hazard. The tabloid believe that Florentino Perez is looking to draft in another ‘galactico’ in order to support his bid to be re-elected as president, and Hazard appears to fit the criteria.
The Sun report that Chelsea are prepared to offer Hazard a lucrative contract worth £15.6million-a-year, but Conte has contacted Insigne’s representatives through fear that the Belgian could depart this summer.
Chelsea may well not have to break the bank in order to secure their Hazard replacement, as The Sun note that Insigne would cost the Premier League champions a fee in the region of £45million – less than half of what they expect to raise through Hazard’s sale.
Replacing Hazard’s influence would be no easy task if he does choose to depart, but signing Insigne would certainly be a good start.
