Marseille have joined the race to sign want-away Chelsea striker Diego Costa as Jacques-Henri Eyraud, president of the Ligue 1 side, confirmed that he is a fan of the Spanish striker, reports the Express.
According to BBC Sport, Diego Costa was told by Antonio Conte in June to find a new club as Chelsea prepared for life without the 28-year-old by signing Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid in July.
However, the Brazilian born striker has found it difficult to get a move and remains in exile in his native Brazil.
The Express claim that the forward had hoped to resign for Atletico Madrid, however, the Spanish club are currently serving a transfer ban, meaning that Costa wouldn’t be able to play for the club until January. According to the Guardian, this has complicated Costa’s move back to Spain.
However, Jacques-Henri Eyraud has revealed that he is a big fan of the Spaniard and is interested in bringing the forward to France.
Eyraud told French outlet SFR Sport: “I like his character, his grit and his sense of combat.
“He would fit in very well at OM. However, he has a complicated contractual situation.”
He added: “If a player ticks all the boxes, then we showed that we were able to do the transactions.
