Juventus centre-back Daniele Rugani is reportedly regretting the fact that his proposed move to Chelsea fell through over the summer.
Rugani becoming a Chelsea player felt like a foregone conclusion in the summer. He worked with Maurizio Sarri during his stint on-loan at Empoli, and a reunion with his former manager appeared to be on the cards.
The move never came to fruition. Just like our pursuit of Alex Sandro the summer prior, Juventus strung us along for weeks on end, only to leave us empty handed.
Rugani remained at Juventus, but it doesn’t look as though that was his preference. Corriere dello Sport claim that Rugani was excited about the idea of a move to Chelsea and now finds himself ruing the fact he didn’t sign along the dotted line.
Though a Juventus contract extension appears to be on the cards, Rugani is thought to be more concerned about his playing time than anything else. He could have got it at Chelsea, had he signed. If he’s lucky, we’ll try again…
