Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Willian, but are not prepared to use Anthony Martial as part of the deal.
That’s according to Manchester Evening News, who believe that Jose Mourinho’s interest in re-signing Willian is very real, despite United targeting players under the age of 27.
It’s claimed that the pair have an incredibly close relationship from The Special One’s time as Chelsea manager.
Mourinho is thought to be desperate to take the Brazilian to Old Trafford this summer, but Chelsea are not keen on the idea of allowing him to move to a direct rival.
Additionally, United are not currently prepared to allow Chelsea to use their interest in Martial to get the best possible deal for Willian.
It’s naive for Mourinho to think that we would satisfy his desires if he is not prepared to satisfy ours.
Unless they change their stance on Martial, it seems unlikely that we’ll be seeing Willian playing in a United shirt next season.
