Tiemoue Bakayoko is close to leaving Chelsea. You can start pulling your pint.
Our delight at Bakayoko’s impending departure may seem a little harsh, but from a purely footballing perspective, it’s good news that Maurizio Sarri will not be burdened with him, as Antonio Conte was last season.
Bakayoko failed to adapt to life in the Premier League. His poor performances last time around cost us dearly, and he doesn’t deserve a second chance at the expense of the rest of the team.
The Frenchman did feature in pre-season, but only showed that he was a square peg in a round hole in Maurizio Sarri’s system. He’s a complete misfit, so it’s no surprise that the club are set to get rid.
According to Sky Sports, Bakayoko is closing in on a loan move to AC Milan. The report claims that the eventual agreement is likely to include an option to buy.
Whether Milan decide it’s worthwhile to sign him permanently will depend on his performances this coming season. Let’s hope he does better for them than he did for us!
