Real Madrid have reportedly completed a deal to sign Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois this summer.
Courtois’ future at Stamford Bridge has been under the spotlight for some time now. The Belgian has just one-year remaining on his contract with the Blues, and has shown little willingness to sign a contract extension thus far.
His family still reside in Madrid from his time on-loan at Atletico. He has previously expressed his discontent at living so far away from them, so may well be keen on reuniting with them in the Spanish capital this summer.
A move to the Santiago Bernabeu makes sense for Courtois. At 26-years-old, he’d also provide a long-term replacement for Keylor Navas.
It’d be awful to lose Courtois. He’s been excellent for us over the past four-years. According to Elchiringuitotv, though, he has already agreed his move to Los Blancos.
It’s claimed that a €35M agreement has been reached, and Courtois will be a Real Madrid player by the end of the summer.
Courtois is still competing at the World Cup. It seems unlikely that he will have agreed a transfer while still in Russia. Elchiringuitotv have broken numerous stories in the past, however. We face a nervous wait to learn if the information in their report is accurate.
