Real Madrid player previously linked with Chelsea reveals desire to push through summer move

Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic has revealed his desire to leave the Santiago Bernabeu this summer.

Kovacic has won nine pieces of silverware in just three-years as a Real Madrid player, including a hat-trick of Champions Leagues.

Despite Los Blancos’ success with him as part of the squad, he has not played a starring role in any of those triumphs. Kovacic has merely operated as a squad player.

At 24-years-old, it’s time for the Croatian to kick-on with his career. It looks as though he intends to do so.

Kovacic is quoted by Marca revealing that he will look to leave Real Madrid this summer:

“I want to play more and it’s better for me to leave Real Madrid.  love football and I love being on the pitch, so I want the opportunity to be a starter. I’m not happy when I’m not playing.”

Diario Gol linked Chelsea with a move to sign Kovacic at the tail end of last summer. Could our interest in signing him be revived this time around?

It would seem absurd for Chelsea to pass-up as good an opportunity as this, especially considering that Cesc Fabregas has just one-year to run on his contract.

What do you think, Blues?
