Fabrizio Romano has dropped in with an evening update on Chelsea’s next big deal – the purchase of Maxence Lacroix from Crystal Palace.
The transfer insider says that “all formal steps” are done, and the documents counter-signed. It’s just a question of “official statements” from both clubs, Romano concludes.
It’s possible that Palace want to get their Lacroix replacement sorted before they announce his departure, to head off any complaints from fans, who aren’t going to be happy about watching a key player leave.
Chelsea need Lacroix on board for new era
This has been a done deal for a while now, we’ve not had any worried about it falling apart. We just want to see it confirmed so that Lacroix can get integrated as soon as possible and hopefully hit the ground running at Stamford Bridge.
Having played until the final week of the World Cup he’s got a fair bit of well deserved holiday still to come – we wouldn’t expect him to join the preseason tour, and the first time we’ll see him in action will likely be the Stamford Bridge friendly against Real Sociedad just before the season starts.
