LOAN WATCH: Chelsea’s loan army is set to gain a Premier League winner, with the Telegraph’s Matt Law reporting that Danny Drinkwater is close to becoming a Burnley player for the coming season.
Law revealed this exclusive information on his Twitter account on Thursday, claiming that Sean Dyche’s men were closing in on agreement with Chelsea for the loan of ex-Leicester City title winner Drinkwater.

Drinkwater has not been involved at Chelsea for some time. He appeared in the Community Shield last August, but was subsequently frozen out by Maurizio Sarri. He clearly wasn’t to the Italian’s taste.
Nor Frank Lampard, evidently. A move away has looked to be on the cards ever since Drinkwater was cut from our pre-season squad. It’s good news for all parties that it has now materialised, albeit on the final day.
Now we just have to sit tight and hope that Burnley are able to get everything sorted by the time 5pm rolls around and the deadline strikes. Please, lads.
