There appears to be an element of doubt as to whether Davide Zappacosta or Reece James will leave Chelsea on loan this summer.
This is the claim made by Standard Sport, whose understanding is that James’ future is dependent on whether Chelsea can secure a loan for Zappacosta.
The report notes of interest from Serie A from Zappacosta, but that is no guarantee that we will be able to get a deal over the line before the deadline.
Cut our losses – let him leave
While it may seem a little harsh, with Zappacosta certainly not doing anything drastically wrong during his time here, it’s time to let him go – whatever the loss incurred.
In the shape of Reece James we have one of the most technically gifted full-backs in his age group that you are likely to find anywhere on the planet.
We ought to do everything in our power to lay the foundations so that he can be a success here. If parting with Zappacosta is the first step towards doing that, so be it.
