Tiemoue Bakayoko isn’t getting on very well at AC Milan, not that we expected anything different following his disastrous debut season at Chelsea.

Scarcely have we seen a player decline so considerably in such a short period of time. Bakayoko was one of the hottest midfielders around following his superb 2016/17 campaign at AS Monaco. He’s a shadow of the player he used to be.

The Frenchman is not only completely devoid of even a modicum of confidence – he also appears to have lost his capability to handle playing football at such a high level.

Bakayoko has started slowly in Milan, but was given an opportunity to show what he could do against Genoa on Wednesday night. The decision to field him didn’t pay off for Gennaro Gattuso.

First of all, Bakayoko played a rather bizarre back-pass in his own penalty area to put Alessio Romagnoli under pressure unnecessarily. He should have cleared his lines, but instead it resulted in an own-goal.

Having proven that he can’t be trusted with the ball in the defensive phase, Bakayoko added shooting to the list integral footballing skills he hasn’t quite nailed down. This effort was, well, see for yourself…

We’re on the brink of giving up on Bakayoko. With the quality in depth we have currently within our midfield ranks, and Mason Mount impressing with Derby County, it’s difficult to see where he fits at Stamford Bridge.
