Chelsea loanee Christian Pulisic scored a superb solo goal last night as Borussia Dortmund met Werder Bremen in the DFB-Pokal.
The acquisition of Pulisic was announced back in the January transfer window, with Chelsea electing to gift the USA international back to Borussia Dortmund on-loan for the remainder of the 2018/19 campaign.
There is no denying that Chelsea could do with reinforcements out-wide, but the arrival of another winger this month would not have sent a good message to Callum Hudson-Odoi, who is threatening to break into the first-team.
The stage will be set for Pulisic’s eventual arrival this summer, though, and if he is able to produce moments like he did last night on a regular basis, he will prove to be a great signing by Marina Granovskaia and co.
Dortmund exited the DFB-Pokal on penalties to Werder Bremen, but not before Pulisic got on the scoresheet with a sensational solo goal. He picked up the ball on the half-way line, before playing a one-two and beating the goalkeeper.
Could he be the man to replace Eden Hazard, should the Belgian opt to depart? We’ll have to wait and see. There’s certainly shades of our Eden in this strike from Pulisic…
