Chelsea face a massive battle to keep their head coach Antonio Conte after Italian giants AC Milan plan to come in for him next summer.
Conte is currently on three year contract that has just over a year remaining, and has recently revealed he would want a return to his native land earlier than expected, as quoted by the Guardian.
Milan reportedly plan to hire Conte next summer, and have a grand plan to do it.
According to Calciomercato, the Italian side will promote Rino Gattuso who is currently the coach of the Primavera team, to join the senior team if Montella is sacked in the course of the season.
It is reported that Montella’s job is on the line after his side sit seventh on the Serie A league table, with only 12 points after seven games.
The plan to have Gattuso as a standy by coach is to allow Conte end the season with Chelsea, and then pounce when the season ends.
Conte renewed his contract with Chelsea last summer, but all that changed the figures and not the length of deal.
