Alvaro Morata has set out an ambitious target for the amount of goals he’d like to score for Chelsea this season.
Morata scored 15 goals in all competitions during his debut season as a Blue, with 11 of those coming in the Premier League.
Even taking into account his injury struggles and adaptation period to life in the Premier League, you’d expect better than that for someone we paid a then club-record fee for.
We’re all hoping to see better things from Morata this season, as is he. The most goals Morata has ever hit in a season is 20 for Real Madrid in 2016/17. He’s aiming beyond that.
Morata is quoted by the Daily Star revealing that he is hoping to his the 30 goal mark, but would sacrifice some of those to see Chelsea triumph:
“For sure I want to score more than 30 goals, but I would prefer to score 15 or 20 and for us to win the Premier League or another big trophy.”
“I want to score many goals but the most important thing is the team.”
Morata opened his account for the season against Arsenal at the weekend. Let’s hope he gets close to his target and (finally) justifies his hefty price-tag.
