Antonio Conte revealed some much-awaited team news ahead of the trip to Watford’s Vicarage Road.
As per The Standard, Olivier Giroud may feature in a bid to make his Chelsea debut.
However, the Frenchman is likely to be coming off the bench for the match due to his current fitness levels, Conte revealed in Friday’s press conference.
The Standard quotes Conte saying:
“Olivier is coming back from a muscular injury and was out for 50 days before playing 15 minutes against Swansea.”
Meanwhile, Emerson Palmieri is in further doubt to make his first Chelsea appearance. The Brazilian has been limited to match action this season after recovering from an anterior cruciate ligament injury in May.
Palmieri has made just two appearances for Roma this campaign, his latest being a start against Torino in December.
The 23-year-old’s condition means he’ll have to play the waiting game as Conte ruled him out of the Premier League clash with Watford, as The Standard reports.
“We have to wait. Especially for Palmieri, we are talking about a player who is coming back from a bad injury.”
