Now, we’re not ones to buy into potentially unfounded reports from abroad, but this one is intriguing, so we’re going to share it with you. According to Premium Sport (via Calciomercato), Antonio Conte is a goner.
Conte’s future as Chelsea manager is in serious doubt. He may well have lifted the FA Cup just days ago, but a fifth-place finish will simply not do, not to mention his apparent disgruntlement over the club’s transfer activity.
It has seemed to be merely a matter of time before Conte was either dismissed or walked. We assumed that if the club were to make a decision, there would be announcement either way sooner rather than later. We could soon get said announcement.
It’s claimed by Premium Sport that Conte’s departure could be announced in the coming hours. There is thought to be disagreement over whether he will be entitled to the money remaining on his contract, but those details will presumably be ironed out pretty swiftly.
Is this goodbye? We shall see…
