Antonio Rudiger has defended Alvaro Morata over the struggles the striker has been facing in recent games, The Standard reports.
Morata got off to a blistering start at Chelsea, scoring seven goals in his first eight appearances for the Blues. However, questionable performances in particular the 2-2 draw in the Premier League against Arsenal has raised some doubts.
The Spaniard’s fellow summer signing Rudiger is adamant that a player going through a rough spell is natural, as The Standard reports.
The Standard quotes Rudiger saying:
“It’s just a difficult period for him and I hope the best for him. Sometimes there are spells when you score and don’t score, but his effort for the team is good and he always tries.”
No reason to panic over Morata form
As a lone striker you are the man that everyone expects to deliver goals consistently. Perhaps, this is down to Chelsea’s lack of goals in the last few games.
Comparisons with previous Blues flops are only down to Morata occupying the number nine shirt.
