The draw for the Champions League group stage has taken place, and Chelsea have been handed a tricky one.
With the Blues being in pot one having won the title, we were well positioned to be handed a favourable draw. However, after we were drawn in group C, Atletico Madrid followed. That could mean that Diego Costa returns to Stamford Bridge sooner than many had expected. Filipe Luis will also presumably be facing the Premier League champions for the first time since he re-joined Atletico.
Our misery did not end there, however. AS Roma were next out the pot, ensuring that Chelsea had already been given one of the most difficult draws possible. Antonio Conte will be returning to Italy for the first time in his Chelsea career.
Thankfully, our draw was rounded off with Azerbaijani side Qarabag, which barring a disaster, should guarantee at least six points for the Blues. It’s going to be fun!
