Charly Musonda has admitted that he was in tears on the pitch after scoring his first Chelsea goal, report the Daily Star.
Musonda joined Chelsea five years ago, but it took until Wednesday night at the age of 20 for the Belgian prodigy to make his first start for the club.
He wasted no time in making an impression, firing into the back of the net with an emphatic finish and opening his account for the Premier League champions. If you missed the goal, you can see it by clicking here.
It was very much a fairytale moment for Musonda, and his reaction reflected that. He is quoted by the Daily Star revealing that he was overcome with emotion after scoring his first Chelsea goal:
“It was an emotional moment, I can’t even remember it, I was very happy and you can see that. I was in tears to be honest.”
We hope that Musonda will be given plenty more opportunities to impress this term – he has earned it. It’s hard to believe that this will be his last goal for the club.
