Chelsea left-wing-back Marcos Alonso has ruled out the possibility of leaving the club during the summer transfer window.
Alonso joined Chelsea from Fiorentina back in 2016. As soon as Antonio Conte opted to change to a 3-4-3 system, it was clear to see that Alonso was going to thrive – and he has.
The Spaniard has defensive frailties which mustn’t be overlooked, but on the front-foot, there is scarcely a better wing-back on the planet.
As per the London Evening Standard, Alonso’s excellent performances have seen links to both Real Madrid and Barcelona emerge.
However, he does not appear to be interested in seeking a move away from Stamford Bridge any time soon.
Alonso is quoted by the London Evening Standard saying:
“I have not considered that possibility, I just try to give the best of me to my team.”
We ought to be looking to add to our squad this summer, not sell key players. Alonso’s willingness to stay put is great news. Let’s hope that his teammates follow suit.
