Chelsea fans showed their support for Kepa Arrizabalaga this afternoon – while having a cheeky dig at former Blue Thibaut Courtois.
All eyes were on the Spanish goalkeeper heading into today’s game at Craven Cottage. He was dropped for our midweek win over Tottenham following the incident at Wembley, but Maurizio Sarri brought him back into the starting eleven for the SW6 derby.
Kepa was arguably man of the match, saving Chelsea on multiple occasions and ensuring that the three points would be heading to the visitors. It was his best performance in a Chelsea shirt to date, and what a time for him to produce it.
We were impressed with what we saw, as were the Chelsea supporters in attendance. The away fans chanted to show their support for the young keeper, while also using it as an opportunity to take a dig at Thibaut Courtois – which we’re absolutely on board with.
Chelsea fans chanting for Kepa: “It’s Kepa, you know, better than Thibaut.”

This situation appears to have blown over as quickly as it came. We feared that this could be the undoing of Sarri at Chelsea, but the manner in which he has dealt with the ordeal has only strengthened his grip on the managerial position at Cobham.
