Charly Musonda has returned to Chelsea after suffering a shin injury during a behind-closed-doors game on Saturday, report The Sun.
Musonda endured a tough time during his time on loan with Celtic. Former Blue Brendan Rodgers completely overlooked the Belgian, leaving him out in the cold. Chelsea terminated the loan as a result.
Musonda signed for Vitesse Arnhem on loan last month. He would essentially be guaranteed regular football in the Netherlands, which we hoped would bring the best out of him. However, this injury threatens to derail another crucial period of his development.
The Sun report that Musonda injured his shin during a friendly against Royal Antwerp. He has now returned to Chelsea, where our medical team will assess the severity of his injury.
The report notes that he could be set to spend ‘months’ on the sidelines. We’re not sure how The Sun have come to that conclusion before a full assessment of the damage done has been completed. We eagerly await further, hopefully positive, updates.
