We have an update on the condition of Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud to bring you, with information provided by the ever reliable Physio Room.
Giroud missed out on Chelsea’s win over Crystal Palace at the weekend with what was described as ‘muscle fatigue’. The World Cup winner may have felt something twinge during training and felt it was not worth the risk to be involved at the expense of his muscle.
With Alvaro Morata our only available striker in his absence, Chelsea fans will have been eagerly awaiting news on Giroud’s condition. Well, here it is.
Physio Room believe that Giroud WILL be available for selection against BATE Borisov on Thursday night. This conclusion has been drawn by the nature of the injury Giroud suffered, it being a minor one, and Sarri’s comments previously suggesting that the Palace game is all he would miss.
Despite that, we have included Morata in the starting eleven for our predicted starting eleven. Sarri has previously not risked players who are only recently back from injury, and we believe that he will not be making an exceptions for this game.
