Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has fired a bitter big at former manager Maurizio Sarri.
The mere fact that De Laurentiis still feels the need to talk about Sarri says it all. Antonio Conte’s departure was revealed by a short statement released by Chelsea, and he hasn’t been spoken of since.
De Laurentiis has felt the need to discuss Sarri continually since he left the club. Despite the now Chelsea boss taking the Serie A giants up a level, and narrowly missing out on winning the Serie A title, the club chief remains bitter.
He’s quoted by the Daily Mail bemoaning that Sarri was unable to win any silverware during his time spent at the Stadio San Paolo:
“There remains the pleasure of having played well but also the bitterness of not having won anything. We gave Sarri everything and in three years we didn’t win anything.”
Napoli won 91 points in Serie A last season. They were beaten by a Juventus side who have dominated the league for years. Refusing to give Sarri credit for what he achieved in Naples is bitter ignorance. De Laurentiis is a fool who should be ignored.
