Ross Barkley has praised Gianfranco Zola for the extra work he puts on in the training ground to help the players.
Zola is one of the greatest ever to pull on the Chelsea shirt. The prospect of Zola returning to Stamford Bridge as part of Maurizio Sarri’s backroom staff was an incredibly exciting one for anyone with any affiliation to Chelsea.
And it actually happened!
Zola is home. He has been given the platform to educate our players, especially the young ones, with his vast football knowledge.
One player that he has already had an impact on is Ross Barkley, who is entering his first full season as a Chelsea player.
Barkley lost his way a little bit in terms to his development, he could certainly do with a little guidance. During an interview with the Telegraph, he explained what Zola has been doing for him on the Cobham training ground:
“I like to stay out after training and do some finishing and practice my free-kicks and things, and Gianfranco stays out with me.”
“He helps out a lot, telling me little things that used to work for him. He’s still got it.”
This is great to hear!
