It’s been made clear today that Bournemouth won’t consider any January offers for their star midfield, who made his England debut last night. That shouldn’t be news to Chelsea – we would imagine they’ve known that was the reality all along.

A BBC article about the Blues’ interest does have another interesting detail, however. It notes that Chelsea were interested back in the summer – and in fact put in a £64m bid for the rising star.
That’s the first time we’ve seen a number put on it, and it’s a low one. In a summer where Elliot Anderson was sold for £116m, Scott wasn’t going anywhere for much less than £90m. It sounds like a very speculative opening offer, and it was dismissed out of hand by the Cherries, who knew this England cap was coming and another good season could earn them another £20m-40m.

The good news is that Estevao is apparently more willing to be patient than some reports are giving him credit for, taking the pressure down a little.
