Chelsea have six players on the injury list ahead of their clash with Malmo in the Europa League round of 32 this evening.
Maurizio Sarri needs a win like he never has before in his managerial career. The former Napoli manager took the long route to the summit of football, but now he’s here he looks out of his depth. To avoid the sack, he needs wins, starting tonight.
Malmo provide a great opportunity for Chelsea to show the Stamford Bridge faithful what it feels like to win again. A win would also put us one step closer to winning the competition and subsequently securing Champions League football for next season.
Sarri will likely have to do it without several members of his squad, with SIX players all facing the possibility of missing out. According to Physio Room, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Danny Drinkwater, Gary Cahill, Pedro and Davide Zappacosta all have problems ahead of the fixture.
A final decision on their availability is likely yet to be made. We’d love to see Loftus-Cheek in the starting lineup, so dearly hope that he’s in good enough condition to feature from the beginning. We’ll see as the teams are announced at 7pm GMT.
