Bayern Munich target surprise Chelsea midfielder according to insider

Simon Phillips has claimed that Bayern Munich are interested in signing Romeo Lavia from Chelsea – which is hard to believe.

Our writer Simon Phillips has dropped a very interesting transfer rumour on his Substack today, and it’s one we’re really struggling to get our heads around.

He says that Bayern Munich are interested in signing Romeo Lavia from Chelsea. The Belgian has had a terribly injury hit three years at Chelsea, and has yet to complete a competitive 90 minutes since signing.

“Our sources have heard now that Bayern Munich are interested in signing Lavia, although if they do make a move for him, it is likely to be a loan with a buy option as they did with Nicolas Jackson,” Phillips writes.

Lavia wanted by Bayern according to sources

Of course, Chelsea would probably love to cut their losses on Lavia. But we just don’t believe this at all. The only team who would take a risk on a player like Lavia is one who would be willing to take that punt to get a player they otherwise would never be able to sign.

Bayern already have better midfielders, and can add players just as good or better than Lavia (and without the injury risk) if they want to improve. What reason would they have for gambling on the Belgian? To us, it just doesn’t add up.

In other news…

Pedro Neto is a player that could still leave Chelsea this summer – but if he wants to go, Man City are going to have to seriously up their offer, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Blues are working hard to sign players as well as sell them – they just announced a deal to bring in Pep Chavarria from Rayo Vallecano.
