Eden Hazard has provided a clear indication of the Chelsea striker he prefers playing with, and it could prove to be bad news for Alvaro Morata.

Morata failed to prove in the opening four games of the Premier League season that he had made any significant progress over the summer. The Spaniard has continued to fall short, and was dropped as a result.

Giroud started against Cardiff City on Saturday, and despite not finding the back of the net, was one of the best players on the pitch. Hazard agrees.

Speaking following the game, Hazard hailed Giroud as the best target man on the planet. He’s quoted by Sky Sports saying:

“He’s a targetman, maybe the best in the world. I think so. When he gets the ball, he can hold it and we can go with him.”

“For us, he’s a player to play with. When Alvaro was playing it is completely different, he’s a different player with different qualities, and it’s good to have two good strikers in the team.”

Giroud won the World Cup in the summer without scoring a single goal for France, despite featuring regularly. His goal tally, or rather lack of, was not a fair reflection of his influence.

Giroud has a unique technical ability which brings the best out of those around him. It paid dividends with Hazard on Saturday, don’t be surprised to see him stay in Sarri’s starting eleven for the games ahead.
