Chelsea has suffered another injury blow as N’Golo Kante was taken off in the 33rd minute of France’s match against Bulgaria, Sky Sports reports.
Kante was clutching the back of his leg as he was taken off but there is no news as to how long last year’s PFA player of the year will be out for.
Alvaro Morata suffered a similar injury against Manchester City last Saturday with fears that the pair may not be available for the game against Crystal Palace on Saturday.
Deadline day signing Danny Drinkwater still remains out with a calf injury. This means Cesc Fabregas and Tiemoue Bakayoko are now the only central midfielders in contention to play against Palace at Selhurst Park.
France manager Didier Deschamps gave the public more details of the injury and ruled Kante out of playing in the nation’s next match.
Deschamps is quoted by Sky Sports saying:
“It is a muscular problem behind the thigh. He will not be there on Tuesday [against Belarus].”
We don’t know the full extent of Kante’s injury but it’s another blow for Antonio Conte. Injuries have not been kind to him this season in the manner which they were last time around.
