Former Chelsea player and current technical coach Eddie Newton believes Andreas Christensen could be another John Terry.

Technical coach Eddie Newton has watched plenty of players sent out on loan by Chelsea. Andreas Christensen is at the top of his list of the best he’s seen of the Blues past and present loanees.

In a Youtube Video uploaded by the club’s official account, the former Blues player also believes Christensen can stay at Chelsea for the long term.

Christensen has had a progressive season in his first regular spell at Stamford Bridge. It doesn’t come as a surprise a short film has been made about him by the club.

When speaking to Chelsea, Newton was full of compliments for the Dane who he had watched ever since joining us in 2012.

Newton is quoted by the club saying:

“He’s an incredible footballer. He’s one that the club should be proud of and one that we could definitely have here for the next ten years and be another John Terry.”

Will Christensen be another Terry?

Andreas Christensen is looking like he could be the first Chelsea academy product since John Terry to force his way as an impactful first team player.

It’s far too early to make comparisons between both players. However, there technical traits are very much similar.

Chelsea may not have a defender as good as Terry was but there’s no doubt he can become an important player for the champions.
