We have an update to bring you on the Eden Hazard situation – and it’s good news!
Chelsea fans have spent the past weeks and months fearing that Hazard’s dream move to Real Madrid would materialise, with the Belgian leaving Stamford Bridge for good.
Hazard has continually reaffirmed his desire to become a Real Madrid player, but has stopped short of confirming that he will push for a move away from Chelsea.
In fact, the 27-year-old has suggested that he could still remain with the Blues, he hasn’t ruled it out. Could he, against all odds, be set to sign a contract extension? This report from Italy claims so.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness), Hazard has ready to put pen-to-paper on Chelsea’s latest contract extension offer. When you look at the finances involved, you begin to understand why.
The report claims that Hazard would earn €18m-a-year – after tax! That works out at around £305K-a-week, which would make Hazard the highest paid player in Chelsea history.
Whatever the cost, we have to convince him to stay. The validity of this report is yet unclear, but we’ll be keeping our fingers crossed that the information is accurate.
