Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley has revealed his belief that Eden Hazard is currently the best player on the planet, report the Guardian.
This is what we’ve been waiting for. Ever since Hazard signed along the dotted line in the summer of 2012, we have been desperate for him to establish himself among the best in the world.
Hazard has threatened to break into that illustrious group, but his productivity in terms of goals and assists oftentimes held him back. No longer.
The Belgian superstar has found the back of the net six times in seven appearances in all competitions for Chelsea this season. That’s in addition to the two assists he’s provided and the two goals he scored during the international break.
He has hit Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo level since the start of the World Cup, and is finally getting recognition as one of, if not the, best in the world.
Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley believes that Hazard is number one at the moment. He’s quoted by the Guardian following our win over Liverpool saying:
“He’s one of the best players in the world and he shows it. He’s been showing it for the last five or six years and he is establishing himself in the top three players in the world. At the minute, he’s probably the best player in the world, the way he is playing.”
Hazard needs to maintain this level over the course of the season to be in with a chance of winning next year’s individual awards, but he’s certainly on the right track!
