Eden Hazard has revealed his delight with Maurizio Sarri’s style of play. In doing so, he’s had a little dig at Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte.
Hazard enjoyed the best seasons of his career under the stewardship of the two previously mentioned Blues bosses, but there can be no denying that, at times, they forced him to play with the handbrake on.
Not now. Not under Sarri. Hazard has full freedom to do as he pleases while Chelsea have the ball, which looks to be bringing the best out of the Belgium captain.
Hazard has scored two goals and provided two assists in his first four appearances under Sarri. During two of those, he was used only as a substitute.
The 27-year-old is reaping the rewards of Sarri’s expansive football. He’s admitted it himself, noting the difference between how Chelsea are playing now compared to in previous seasons.
Hazard is quoted by The Sun saying:
“I like to have the ball. Not in my own half, but in the last 30 metres. I like this type of game. It’s completely different than Conte or Mourinho before. We have more ball so for me it’s not bad.”
Let’s hope neither of Jose or Antonio are reading this…
