Michy Batshuayi Kurt Zouma

Kurt Zouma has revealed that he’s hoping to prove himself worthy of a starting spot at Chelsea.

Zouma signed for Everton on a season-long loan on deadline day. At the time that the deal went through, we wondered if we’d ever see the Frenchman in a Chelsea shirt again.

He’s not the quintessential Maurizio Sarri defender. There are evident deficiencies in his distribution from the back.

It’s unclear where Sarri and the club stand on the matter, but Zouma’s standpoint is clear – he wants to prove that he is good enough to be a Chelsea player.

Zouma is quoted by the Telegraph saying:

“I have always wanted to show myself at Chelsea since I have been there. It comes from my mentality. I have always believed in myself since I started playing at 16.”

“I know my injuries stopped me in the way I wanted to play, but injuries are part of football and I want to show people I can come back and play there. That’s why I need some game time at Everton because they are a good team.”

The anterior cruciate ligament rupture did derail his development, but Zouma showed glimpses at Stoke City last season that that raw talent he showcased previously still exists.

He’ll be playing in a better team under a better manager this season. We fancy this loan to bring the best out of him.
