Jose Mourinho sold Kevin De Bruyne in 2014 due the former Chelsea manager concerned over the 26-year-old’s poor attitude as the Daily Express reports.
Chelsea suffered a 1-0 defeat to Manchester City on Saturday courtesy of a fantastic strike from the attacking midfielder.
De Bruyne who is now one of the stars of the Premier League recently came out about his swift departure from the Blues as reported by the Daily Express.
“Okay, I was a young player, but I was experienced and felt I deserved a chance to show what I could do at Chelsea. Maybe they just didn’t think I was good enough. That’s their decision.”
De Bruyne’s time at Chelsea under Mourinho began brightly. The then 23-year old started against Hull City and Manchester United in the opening games of the season showing his talents on the pitch. Reports suggested De Bruyne was lazy in training and that Mourinho wanted players that would give their all, such as this one in the Daily Mail back in 2016.
For example, Oscar was perhaps less talented than De Bruyne but fitted the calibre of player the now Manchester United manager likes that is willing to work hard.
De Bruyne was sold to German side Wolfsburg, ending what appeared to be a poor relationship between the pair.
Since his departure, the move seems to have worked well for all parties. De Bruyne has moved on to bigger things individually but has yet to win a league title, something we have done twice since the club and player ended terms.
