Chelsea announced on Monday morning that the club have agreed a partnership with car manufacturer Hyundai to be our official sleeve sponsor from the start of the 2018/19 campaign.

The Times reported last month that the deal was worth as much as £50M, making it the Premier League’s most lucrative sleeve sponsorship deal.

With Chelsea failing to qualify for the Champions League, and plans to redevelop Stamford Bridge being put on hold, we could certainly do with the extra cash.

The club gave us a sneak preview at how the Hyundai advertisement will look like on the sleeves of the new Chelsea home shirt by posting the below photo on their Twitter account.

What’s next? We wonder. Sock tape sponsors? Do they exist? If there’s money in it, we don’t imagine it’ll be very far off.

Roman Abramovich, wherever he may be, will be laughing all the way to the bank this evening.
