Marcos Alonso

Marcos Alonso and Chelsea won’t give up without a fight despite the deflation of the 1-1 result against Barcelona on Tuesday night, Goal reports.

The Blues put their bodies on the line in a spirited performance and were unlucky not to come away with an advantage leading up to the second leg at the Nou Camp.

Barcelona dominated possession however; Antonio Conte’s side had the best chances of the game. Willian struck the post twice in the first half before the Brazilian finally found the route to goal in the second half sadly wasn’t enough.

An uncharacteristic mistake from Andreas Christensen led to Lionel Messi breaking his duck against the English champions.

Although Messi’s goal was a heartbreaking to concede, Alonso is adamant the team have an extra gear that can be found in the away tie, as Goal reports.

Goal quotes Alonso saying:

“We will have to take all the positive things and put in an extra shift in Barcelona because it will be even more difficult. But we definitely can do it and we will fight until the end.”
