Maurizio Sarri has confirmed that Eden Hazard will play some part in Chelsea’s game with Crystal Palace this weekend, but it appears unlikely that he’ll be ready to play the full 90 minutes.

Hazard woke up following out draw with Manchester United suffering from stiffness in his back. The Belgian has not featured since, missing fixtures against BATE, Burnley and Derby County.

Hazard appears to be on the mend and is ready to return to action for Chelsea. However, the 27-year-old is not yet in optimal condition, and will only at part of the Palace game this weekend. This news was confirmed by Sarri during his pre-match press conference.

The Italian confirmed that Hazard will return, but he’s unsure on the extent of the role he’ll play. He’s quoted by the official Chelsea website saying:

“Yesterday Eden had a large part of the training with the team. Maybe he will not be ready to play for 90 minutes at the moment, because it was the first training in the last two weeks, but probably he will be able to play for 40, 45 minutes. I will speak to him before deciding whether he starts. For us it’s important.”

We’ll have to wait and see how Hazard is feeling on match day. In the meantime, we’ll be keeping our fingers tightly crossed.
