Chelsea may not have been able to secure all three points against Everton this afternoon, but Maurizio Sarri set a new Premier League record.
In case you’ve been hiding under a rock, Chelsea are the only team in Europe’s top five leagues yet to suffer a single defeat this season.
The last time we were beaten was by Manchester City in the Community Shield, but that doesn’t count as a competitive game, rather a friendly.
Chelsea’s 0-0 draw with Everton at Stamford Bridge made it 12 Premier League games unbeaten for Sarri. No manager has ever survived that long at the beginning of their time in England’s top tier without losing.
The previous record holder was former Nottingham Forest boss Frank Clark, who managed 11 games back in 1994. Sarri is now the outright number one with 12.
Who knows how long this run will go on for. Next up for us is Tottenham away, which promises to be a tough contest!
If your thirst for more football can’t wait until Chelsea next take to the field, Milan host Juventus tonight in Serie A. That’s bound to be one helluva game. Tune in here.
