Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has added a whole load of confusion to the situation surrounding Maurizio Sarri.
Reports on Friday suggested that Sarri was on the verge of finally completing his move from Napoli to Chelsea. It would end a month-long saga which has left both Sarri and Antonio Conte in limbo.
We Chelsea fans breathed a sigh of relief, safe in the knowledge that our precarious managerial situation was set to be resolved and we could finally get to work on the transfer front.
However, De Laurentiis has now claimed that Sarri’s move to Stamford Bridge is not as close as it was first thought. In fact, the Italian revealed that there has in fact been no contact with Chelsea.
De Laurentiis is quoted by Football London saying:
“The call from London hasn’t arrived. But you are sure Sarri will go to Chelsea? Time will tell.”
De Laurentiis is a very hard man to work with. He’s renown for playing hardball and being, quite frankly, difficult. We’re not entirely convinced that what he says is true. What do you think, Blues?
