Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has waxed lyrical about Gonzalo Higuain following the Argentine’s brace against Huddersfield Town on Saturday.
After weeks of false-dawns disappointment, Higuain finally gave the Chelsea faithful something to be optimistic about. We have suffered through Alvaro Morata’s inability to find the net – but no longer. Higuain is going to change everything.
Higuain has scored goals throughout his career, wherever he’s gone. He’s made mince meat of two of Europe’s top five leagues, and if yesterday’s performance was anything to go by, he intends to do the same with the Premier League.
The sharp movement and clinical finish for his first goal was utterly sublime, and the gorgeous strike from the edge of the penalty area was something else. Maurizio Sarri, who is well accustomed to his brilliance, is impressed.
Speaking to the press following the game, Sarri is quoted by the Independent talking about just how good of a striker Chelsea have landed in the shape of Higuain. These two really are a match made in heaven, aren’t they?
“He’s a great striker. He’s a bit less of a target man than (Olivier) Giroud, but he can hold the ball, he can play one touches. He’s intelligent. In the box he’s unbelievable. He will score more goals.”
