Here’s the news that we were all dreading.
As per the Telegraph, N’Golo Kante could be ruled out for the entirety of October having sustained a hamstring injury while on international duty with France.
Having been influential for the Blues since his arrival at the club in the summer of 2016, this is a considerable blow to Antonio Conte’s title hopes, even at this early stage in the Premier League season.
If the Telegraph’s diagnosis is correct, Kante will sit out Chelsea’s clash with Crystal Palace this weekend, as well as clashes with AS Roma, Watford, Everton and AFC Bournemouth.
Although Kante’s injury is an incalculably big blow, Conte will be boosted by the return of deadline day signing Danny Drinkwater, who Physioroom believe will be available for our trip to Selhurst Park on October 14th.
Drinkwater may well be called into action immediately in the absence of his former Leicester City midfield partner.
