The Sunday Express have ran an exclusive claiming that Chelsea are set to make Eden Hazard a contract offer which would make him the highest paid player in the club’s history.
As mentioned in the report, Hazard has been heavily linked with Real Madrid, who he has dreamed of playing for since he was a child. He has, however, not gone as far as saying he wants to leave Chelsea, and instead suggested that he could end his career at Stamford Bridge.
Though we won’t be holding our breath for that to happen, it is encouraging to know that Chelsea are being proactive and have prepared a huge contract offer for Hazard. According to the Sunday Express, a £350K-a-week deal will be tabled before Christmas.
Hazard is already the highest-paid player in Chelsea history, and the club appear willing to go far beyond what he currently earns in hope of convincing him to sign along the dotted line.
Though we do not believe that Hazard is a player whose sole interest is beefing up his bank account, putting him on par with the highest players in the Premier League would give him a true indication of his value in SW6.
